
Jose A. Ramirez was selected as the Director of the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation (MBI) by the MBI Governing Board and assumed the duties of Director on December 1, 2025.
Director Ramirez brings more than 30 years of law enforcement experience to MBI, including leadership roles with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), as well as his prior service with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) and the Puerto Rico Police Department (PRPD).
His career has included assignments in criminal investigations, narcotics enforcement, organized crime, intelligence operations, human trafficking investigations, and public corruption, along with supervisory and command responsibilities supporting personnel, operations, and inter-agency coordination. Throughout his service, Director Ramirez has worked alongside local, state, and federal partners on complex, intelligence-driven investigations and critical incident responses, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in addressing multi-jurisdictional crime.
Director Ramirez holds a master’s degree in criminal justice management / law enforcement agency administration and has completed advanced education and specialized training in leadership, investigations, and public safety administration. He has also served as an adjunct professor and instructor for more than ten years, contributing to the development of future criminal justice professionals and leaders.
As Director, Jose A. Ramirez is committed to supporting MBI personnel, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring the agency continues to serve the community with integrity, perseverance, and investigative excellence.
